We have included below a handy guide to help when choosing the size of cake that you require. For round and square cakes the first figure is used if the cake is a fruit cake and the second figure if it is a sponge. If you wish to keep the top tier, which is traditionally kept for the christening of your first child, then please remember to include that in your calculations. Portions are based on 1” square servings for fruit cakes and 2 x 1” for sponge cakes.
